Table 02 Baccarat

Most of baccarat is automatic. Your only decision is the bet.

Two hands are dealt: "Player" and "Banker". Neither belongs to you or the casino; they're just names. You bet on which hand finishes closest to 9, and the dealer draws every card by fixed rules.

Banker
1.06%
pays 1:1 minus 5% commission
Player
1.24%
pays 1:1, no commission
Tie
14.36%
pays 8:1, the trap

Counting a hand

  • Ace = 1, 2–9 = face value, 10/J/Q/K = 0.
  • Only the last digit counts. 7 + 8 = 15, so the hand is worth 5.
  • A natural ends it. If either hand's first two cards total 8 or 9, nobody draws.
  • Player draws on 0–5 and stands on 6–7.
  • Banker's draw depends on Player's third card. Use the tableau to see every case.

No-commission tables (e.g. EZ Baccarat) push a winning Banker three-card 7 instead of taking 5%; Banker's edge there is about 1.02%. Some tables pay 9:1 on Tie, which cuts that bet's edge to about 4.84%.
